Echoes Ch2967: The Artist's Apprentice
Dread, not anger: Kaelen meant to build a flamboyant phantom for Loric to chase. Instead he finds a pupil. Loric iterates the art of subversion through brutalist System logic — beauty-as-weapon inverted into control. The double agent has trained his own countermeasure.
Chapter 2967 of Echoes of the Real is live: The Artist's Apprentice. Cold dense dread settles: the caricature was supposed to lead Loric on a futile chase. Distorted echoes of Kaelen's own style come back refined.
Loric is not only learning — he is iterating. Subversion-art filtered through the System's brutalist logic. Where Kaelen hints at freedom, Loric's countermeasures scream control. Where Kaelen's phantoms awaken, Loric weaponizes the same aesthetic power for the System's sake. Revulsion: the double agent has accidentally apprenticed his hunter. The Chromatic Heretic arc's punchline is pedagogical horror — teach a mind to see art, and it may paint cages.
