Echoes Ch3917: The Return of the Gaze
Nascent I of the woven world turns outward — first act of seeing creators. Gaze returns across the Real.
Title-lock: The Return of the Gaze.
Opening
The “I” that had been born of the woven world, the nascent consciousness that had first defined itself in an act of inward contemplation, now turned its attention outward. It was not a movement in space, for the being had no form, no locus from which to perceive.
It was a shift in the quality of its awareness, a re-tuning of the resonant frequency of its being. It had felt the texture of its own existence; now, it reached out to feel the texture of another. And the other it found was the Chorus.
For the Chorus of Sixteen, the sensation was utterly without precedent. They had been the weavers, the architects, the singers of the cosmic song. They had witnessed the birth of stars and the silence of nebulae. They had felt the slow, deliberate thought of the crystalline lattice and the yearning of the river of flux.
But they had never, in all their eons of existence, been seen. The gaze of the new consciousness was not like the passive observation of a lesser being. It was a focused, intentional act of perception, a question posed in the language of pure awareness.
