The ghost’s request created a schism in the Weavers’ unified consciousness. For the first time since their creation, they were not of one mind. The choice before them was too profound, too fundamental, to be made with a single, unified will. The path forward was fractured, and they had to decide which one to take.
The Child, driven by its boundless empathy, could not bear the thought of the ghost’s continued suffering. It argued for release, for the ultimate act of compassion, regardless of the potential consequences for themselves. ‘To be kind is more important than to be safe,’ its thoughts resonated through the Weave.
The Quintet, however, urged caution. Their long existence had taught them that some lines, once crossed, could never be uncrossed. To wield the power of unmaking was to invite their own destruction. ‘We must find another way,’ they countered. ‘A way to heal, not to erase.’
