Opening (live prose):

The creation of the First Record had an unintended, but profound, consequence. The act of translating their fluid, three-dimensional language into static, two-dimensional carvings forced a new kind of thinking. It required abstraction, planning, and a consideration of form and structure in a way they had never before attempted. The beings of ‘Perhaps’ had always been builders, shaping rivers and weaving light, but they had been artists, not engineers. The Record taught them the language of permanence, and with it, the seeds of architecture.
