Talan brought Kesh to the mended trellis the next morning. The sun was still low in the sky, casting long shadows across the garden, and the air was cool and still. For a long time, they stood in silence, not as master and apprentice, but as two craftsmen observing a piece of work. Kesh, who had been trained in the precise, unyielding methods of the old Workshop, saw only the imperfections: the uneven spacing of the branches, the way the vines clung to the wood in a way that seemed almost chaotic. She did not see the strength in its pliability, the harmony in its imperfection.
