Kesh ran a hand over the smooth, curved surface of the wood, her eyes closed. It was a child’s rocking horse, a simple commission, but she was treating it with the reverence of a masterwork.
Beat
Kesh works a rocking horse by listening, remembering Talan: “The wood has its own story… help it tell the story it already knows.” Jorun (old guard; not Lyron) interrupts — “That’s not how Valerius taught us.
