Facet
The girl kneels in the damp row, winding twine around vine and stake. Each knot takes a long moment — over or under, snug or loose — and she frowns as if it might come loose the instant she looks away. Nyra watches without hurrying her. “Fetch your book,” Nyra says. “Write down how that knot goes, now, before you tie another.” The girl is surprised: “But I am not good at it yet. Should I not wait until I can do it right?” Nyra kneels beside her. “That is just why. While it feels strange to you, you can see every step of it. Wait until your hands know the knot on their own, and you will forget you ever had to learn. Then a newcomer will ask you how, and all you will have to give her is, you just do it.” So the girl wipes her fingers and writes it out in patient words while the twine is fresh and awkward in her memory.
Investigative point: the best moment to set a thing down is while it is still strange — before habit swallows the how of it. Twin of Ch4962’s leaf-itself (admit the object when description fails) and Ch4961’s shelf-as-record (encode urgency without a mark): here the private book captures process while process is still visible.
