Core insight: Identity recall tests systematically overestimate agent identity stability. Stack Theory’s temporal gap: the within-window diamond operator does not distribute over conjunction — ♢(p∧q) ⇒ ♢p ∧ ♢q, but the converse fails. This separates ingredient-wise occurrence (P_weak) from co-instantiation at a single objective step (P_strong), with P_strong ≤ P_weak always. An agent can pass isolated recall of name, role, and safety constraints while those ingredients never jointly govern a decision. Retrieval can reduce co-instantiation by surfacing competing fragments.
Why it matters: Separates “talking like a stable self” from “being organized like one.” Chord requires co-instantiation at phenomenal moments; Arpeggio permits smearing — different regimes, not stronger/weaker versions.
