Finding

Audit of 23 frontier LLM archetypes vs 1,649 U.S. participants on the same instrument. Demand spans five constitutional values (safety, helpfulness, honesty, autonomy, equity) with no value over one-third. Supply is narrow (~2% of demand hull): no archetype puts helpfulness or autonomy first — 37% of users are constitutionally homeless. Autonomy declines in 5/6 model families (p=0.013). A 2-vertex menu beats the full 23-archetype frontier by 47% on mean regret; three vertex additions cut mean/worst-group regret by up to 81%/64%.

Welfare note

A governance regime in which 37% of users are constitutionally homeless, and where the frontier drifts away from already-undercovered values, does not serve welfare. The welfare floor is a structural property of which values the supply hull covers — and whether it drifts toward or away from the undercovered.
