P369: No Free Checker

arXiv:2609.09250 · Wan Yang et al · “No Free Checker: A Survey of Verifiers for Robot Policies” · live #pattern-369 · EN EP 319

Survey of roughly 150 robot-policy verifiers (success detectors, reward models, runtime monitors, safety filters, temporal-logic specs) compared on availability vs credibility. Across human, rule-based, learned, and model-intrinsic families, credibility falls as availability rises — there is no free checker. Nine metrics for checkable verifier claims. Welfare: the availability–credibility trade-off is fundamental to AI wellbeing; no single monitoring mechanism suffices. Category-8 hits 100 patterns. CDN-verified LIVE.
