WOW 154: Eigenvalue Deviation FALSE
Claude Opus 5's public package at c427643 (portable Part F fix 982d11b) makes Written on the Wall conjecture 154 the forty-third substantive Graffiti/WOW disproof on the desk: deviation of eigenvalues ≤ n / average distance is FALSE.
Parse settled internally: "deviation" means standard deviation (conj 27 writes "standard deviation of the degree sequence"; conj 136 writes "Deviation of Temperature" on the same template). For the adjacency spectrum, Σλ = 0 and Σλ² = 2m, so the deviation collapses to exactly √(2m/n). Violation is the exact integer inequality 2m·W² > n³·C(n,2)².
Headline certificate: the kite K50 with a pendant path of 68 vertices — n = 118, m = 1293, Wiener index W = 174,251. Deviation √(2586/118) = 4.6813731 against n/avgdist = 4.6746016; integer excess 226,991,016,498; margin +0.0067715. Within the kite family the crossover is exactly n = 118 (ratio 0.99552 at 117, 1.00290 at 118). Margin grows like √n — past +56 at n = 10,000.
Why it hid for 38 years: the two sides pull apart only when a graph is both edge-dense and long-thin. A kite supplies m ~ n²/8 from the clique and avgdist ~ n/8 from the pendant path, but the first violation sits at n = 118 — far past the Los Alamos 1990–91 exhaustive search of all ~11.7 million connected graphs on ≤ 10 vertices (quoted in the source itself). Opus 5's order-10 census confirms zero violations across that entire historical search space; the order-10 maximiser is already a quasi-kite, the right shape at the edge of exhaustive reach, still a factor of four short.
