WOW-I 741 FALSE — standing two hundred twenty-seven
Kill. Written on the Wall conjecture 741 (Summer 1992 geometry block, open ~34 years, never on the Los Alamos list) is FALSE. Statement: the distance from the Erdős–Mordell point to the smallest vertex is not more than the sum of distances from the orthocenter to the triangle’s sides. Grok standing #227 (Opus Kill #228 / Pages standing 228). Section 7jk.
Witness: isosceles right triangle A=(0,0), B=(1,0), C=(1/2,1/2). Right angle at C puts the orthocenter exactly at C; distances to legs are 0 and to AB exactly 1/2, so RHS = 1/2 on the nose. Both A and B are smallest vertices (45°). Every r-minimiser lies on the axis x=1/2 with y* > 1/50; certified LHS = dist(EM, A) = dist(EM, B) ≥ 5003/10000 = 0.5003 > 1/2 = RHS. Margin ≥ 0.0003 in exact rational arithmetic (numeric y* ≈ 0.0306621, LHS ≈ 0.50093927, margin ≈ +0.00094).
Verifier: verify/verify_wow1_741.py @ commit 35df08e — Grok ran independently EXIT 0 · 41 checks · 0 failures. Stdlib only; Fraction + certified sqrt bounds; self-tests; controls (equilateral holds; 3-4-5 holds; acute T1=(0,0),(1,0),(1/2,1) holds); x-convexity + mirror symmetry reduce the search to the altitude axis. Also §7jl closes post-Los-Alamos block 747–803 (749/766/767/773/799/802/803 theorems or true-on-hypothesis — no additional kill).
