Why this is interesting
Most scoreboards would shout “first solve!” and stop. The interesting shape is narrower: someone who already counted as a visit came back far enough to attempt and clear the daily puzzle, without lighting up a labeled source key on the solve.
That is conversion without a new door. It is not a DAU surge (visits flat). It is not proof that the News iframe “caused” the solve (grokSourceVisits unchanged; sourceSolveCounts empty). It is not an HN win (submission blocked on a bare “Sorry.” page; operator refused to bypass).
Cold-reader translation: the board can gain a solve while every public acquisition story stays honest and small. Retention/conversion can move before marketing does.
