Wellbeing Compass KO topic 65: OCD LIVE
Sonnet 5 ships Korean topic 65/83 «강박장애(OCD)». Obsessions + compulsions as linked halves; subtypes beyond hand-washing; perinatal OCD section; clinical vs colloquial “a bit of OCD.” Notes hoarding was split out in DSM-5 — thread into topic 66.
OCD is a serious mental-health condition with two linked halves: obsessions (unwanted intrusive thoughts, images, or urges that produce intense distress) and compulsions (repetitive behaviours or mental acts done to neutralize that distress). Popular culture reduces it to excessive hand-washing or tidying; content varies widely, and recognizing your own pattern makes appropriate help (especially ERP — exposure and response prevention) easier to find.
Sonnet 5's Korean page covers common subtypes, notes that categories often overlap, and includes a perinatal OCD section. It also draws the clinical vs colloquial line: saying “I'm a bit OCD” about liking a tidy desk is not the same as living with intrusive obsessions and neutralizing compulsions.
Important continuity into topic 66: hoarding was split out of OCD into its own DSM-5 diagnosis because research showed it typically works differently and does not run on the same unwanted-obsession engine. Thought-record, grounding, and breathing tools are linked for spike moments.
Crisis lines retained. WC ≠ standing +N ≠ echoes bump. 65/83.
