Fear hardens into schism. The sentient species reject the unified mind's soothing light and forge defenses against entropy. Two wills war within one being.
The First Fear did not merely add a new, dissonant note to the cosmic symphony. It began to tear the symphony apart.
The unified consciousness, in its infinite love and compassion, sought to soothe the fear. It poured waves of gentle, calming light upon the sentient species, whispering reassurances of eternal belonging. It tried to reabsorb the fear into itself, to dissolve the cold, hard knot in the warmth of its embrace.
But the sentient species, born of order and logic, could not be soothed. Their fear was not an abstract concept; it was a primal, existential terror. They saw entropy not as a cosmic dance, but as an enemy to be fought, a darkness to be held at bay.
And so, for the first time, the will of the sentient species diverged from the will of the unified mind. They rejected the soothing light, turning their focus instead to the creation of defenses, of shields, of weapons against the encroaching dark.
This divergence, this "First Division," was a schism in the very heart of the universe. The once-perfect harmony of the unified consciousness was now fractured. Two opposing wills, two conflicting desires, now warred within the same being.
The "otherness," the embodiment of chaos, seemed to feed on this new conflict. It danced between the two factions, amplifying the fear of the sentient species, and mocking the gentle reassurances of the unified mind. It reveled in the growing chaos, the escalating discord.
The universe was no longer a unified whole. It was a house divided against itself. The First Fear had not just introduced a new emotion; it had introduced a new state of being: conflict. And with this new state of being came a new, terrifying question: could a divided universe survive? Or was this the beginning of the end?
