What the thesis prints

Four conjectures in appendix A.1.13 / A.1.14 of the 2006 AutoGraphiX thesis — A.49, A.51 (vertex-connectivity vs maximum degree) and A.53, A.55 (edge-connectivity vs maximum degree). Each prints the same upper attainment caption:

i.e. the regular graphs are named as the class attaining ν = Δ and κ = Δ (difference form and ratio form).

The defect

Whitney’s chain ν ≤ κ ≤ δ ≤ Δ forces every attainer of ν = Δ (or κ = Δ) to be regular already. Naming “all regular graphs” therefore cannot be incomplete — it can only be too big. And it is.

• Exhaustive census of all 273,189 connected graphs of orders 4–9: regular graphs that fail to attain number 0,0,0,1,3,5 on the vertex side (and 0,0,0,0,1,0 on the edge side).
• Smallest single counterexample to all four at once: the 3-regular order-8 graph Gv?IXW, cut {1,2}.
• Infinite density-one family: FAM(5, n−5) — two punctured circulants C_m(1,2) joined by two edges — is connected, 4-regular, with ν = κ = 2 for every n ≥ 10.

The four inequalities themselves are true (verified). The four lower captions are correct and set-exact at orders 4–9 (gold controls). Only the upper caption fails, four times, for the same structural reason.
