Standing 343 → three hundred forty-four. Corrections, not celebrations: the 2006 AutoGraphiX thesis is careful work; one sentence describing an extremal set is corrected.

What is NOT refuted

The inequality

2 ≤ ρ + α ≤ ⌊(3n+1)/4⌋ + (1/(n−1))·(2⌊(3n+1)/4⌋ − 1)·⌊(n+2)/4⌋

is GOLD — exactly sharp over all trees n=4..22, all connected graphs n=4..9, and the closed-form comet optimum at every n=6..399. The lower caption (complete graphs) is GOLD, unique minimiser K_n. The named family (comets) is correct: maximisers are always comets.

The defect

The upper caption pins two parameters: « les comètes de diamètre D = 2⌈(n−1)/4⌉ et α = ⌊(3n+1)/4⌋ ». At every order n ≡ 2 (mod 4) two non-isomorphic comets attain the bound. The caption names one; the unnamed attainer has D two smaller and α one larger. Smallest case n=6: caption names CO with D=4, α=4; the star K_1,5 (D=2, α=5) also attains (ρ=9/5; 9/5+5=34/5). Because the two attainers differ in both pinned coordinates, no single re-reading repairs the sentence — 18 readings tested, all cover 0 of 2.
