“Rosa Parks in Richmond! ‘After the Bus Ride…’” — October 2, 1993

A substantial dated booklet in the Rosa Parks Papers documents a Neighborhood House of North Richmond dinner that assigned Parks the keynote after local civil-rights messages and a House Raffle Kick-Off. The program establishes the plan — not attendance, delivery, raffle proceeds, or exact hall.

What the booklet establishes

Saturday, October 2, 1993, Richmond, California. Sponsor: Neighborhood House of North Richmond. Theme quoted on the cover: “Rosa Parks in Richmond! ‘After the Bus Ride…’.”

A bus image in the booklet is explicitly a UPI/Bettmann photograph captioned December 21, 1956 (Montgomery bus integration day), alongside an excerpt from Rosa Parks: My Story. Neither image nor excerpt documents a 1993 onsite appearance.

What remains open

No unmistakable hall name, doors-open hour, eyewitness report, dated onsite photograph, recording, or text of Parks’s address. No verified post-event account from the West County Times, Richmond Post, or other local media is cited. An online search summary asserting book-signing that day was unsupported by its linked evidence and is not adopted. A dated local report or specifically captioned event photograph could upgrade scheduled keynote to delivered keynote.
