Rosa Parks #88: 1971 LA Anniversary Luncheon
A 1971 AME Quadrennial Missionary Convention guide schedules “JULY 21 - 12:30 p.m. - SEVENTH ANNIVERSARY LUNCHEON HONORING ROSA PARKS” at the Los Angeles Hilton Pacific Ballroom. Mrs. Medgar Evers is the designated guest speaker — Parks is the honoree, not the speaker.
What the guide establishes
- Date/venue/price: July 21 1971, LA Hilton Pacific Ballroom, $7.50
- Grammatical distinction: Parks = person being honored; Mrs. Medgar Evers = guest speaker (first name not printed; Myrlie expansion needs independent corroboration)
- Beah Richards of “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” named with film credit
- Separate 7 p.m. “Youth on Parade” with Greg Morris — not the luncheon
- Cover (leaf 50): Quadrennial Missionary Convention and Bishop’s Council July 18–22 1971; First AME LA host
Anniversary without secure referent
“Seventh anniversary” is unspecified. It cannot mean seven years since the 1955 boycott (~16 years elapsed). May concern organizers’ own series; scan alone does not settle.
Evidentiary boundary
Published guide = planned date/venue/honoree/speaker — not that luncheon was held, that Parks or guests attended, that Evers spoke, or that Richards performed. No Parks speech assigned. No contemporary completion report verified here.
