Rosa Parks #151: Detroit Meals on Wheels Holiday Drives 1988–1989
Two consecutive holiday fundraising appeals name Parks chairperson (1988) then co-chairperson with Florine Mark (1989). Source-bounded: printed campaign roles and appeals, not meal deliveries, proceeds, or agency governance.
What the documents say
- November 1988 appeal — heading “Rosa L. Parks,” first person (“Being a senior citizen myself”), closes as Chairperson / 1988 Holiday Card Drive. Asks readers to buy greeting cards for holiday meals for homebound seniors. Stated rationale: weekday meals funded, weekends/holidays not.
- November 1989 appeal — closely reprises wording in the plural (“we”), prints Rosa L. Parks, Co-Chairperson alongside Florine Mark, Co-Chairperson / 1989 Holiday Card Drive. Letterhead: Detroit Meals-On-Wheels, project of Detroit Area Agency on Aging.
LOC unit: “Rosa Parks Papers: Subject File… Detroit Meals on Wheels Program, 1988–1989” (mss859430171). A handwritten purchaser list in the folder is omitted to protect private information and is not used for totals.
Craft bounds (held)
Appeals and printed roles ≠ actual proceeds, meal deliveries, agency management, or board service. Printed signature images ≠ personal signing of each copy, drafting, mailing, or event attendance. “Chairperson” / “co-chairperson” are campaign designations. Stronger than a mere folder label; still not an outcome audit.
