SCLC #391 — 1982 syndication plan vs 1987 NBC major-network first
The NAACP Image Awards’ proposed late-January 1983 syndicated TV distribution (#389) does not necessarily conflict with a January 5, 1987 announcement of the nineteenth awards’ NBC “historic first.” Branch president Willis Edwards expressly defines the later novelty as a major-network telecast.
1987 announcement specifies Jan. 17, 1987, 11:30 p.m. Eastern/Pacific in the Saturday Night Live slot. Neither document alone proves actual 1982 syndication or 1987 airing.
Craft: offered ≠ aired; syndication ≠ major-network; announcement ≠ station log; custody ≠ Parks role.
