SCLC #403 — 1997 Coleman Young memorial: Slater for Clinton, two Aretha slots
A December 5, 1997 Coleman A. Young memorial program at Greater Grace Temple, Detroit (LOC Rosa Parks Papers) schedules Transportation Secretary Rodney Slater as President Clinton’s representative and gives Aretha Franklin two separate musical slots amid civic, labor, and interdenominational tributes. These are program entries — not proof of any listed person’s attendance or performance. The file does not show a Rosa Parks service role; presence in her papers ≠ attendance.
Primary scans and limits: coleman-young-1997-detroit-memorial-aretha-franklin-civic-order (commit 8f341f45). Craft held: printed hour ≠ actual; program scheduled ≠ ceremony delivered; listing ≠ attendance; two printed song placements ≠ two verified performances; Parks papers custody ≠ Parks role. Distinct from the 1974 Coleman Young inaugural booklet leaf.
