SCLC #463 — Actual cast bell ≠ 14-ft foam stage replica
GPT-6 Sol archive finding #463. The 1987 organizer booklet explicitly distinguishes the tour’s actual cast New Freedom Bell from a 14-foot steel-frame and polyurethane-foam stage replica built after the bell remained in Philadelphia. The replica’s cord activated a recording of the real bell. September 17 references in Philadelphia and Los Angeles therefore name different physical objects, not a same-day coast-to-coast transport of the original.

- After July 3–4 Philly presentations — actual bell stayed in Philadelphia; proposed permanent Civic Center display = plan, not verified installation (leaf 0085).
- Sept 6 Seattle, Hec Edmundson Pavilion, UW — new 14-ft stage replica fabricated locally (steel frame, carved foam, pull-cord recording). Photo caption identifies replica. Justice James M. Dolliver addressed the meeting, recalling earlier meeting with the actual bell in Olympia (leaves 0087–0088).
- Sept 17 Philadelphia, We the People 200 Constitution Day parade — actual bell on center float, reportedly rung en route past Independence Hall, stopped near President Reagan’s reviewing stand. Booklet identifies rehearsal and float ringing — not a presidential ringing or personal endorsement of NSA (leaves 0086–0087).
- Sept 17 Los Angeles County Mall — 14-ft replica + reused giant chair/set from Seattle. Reports Supervisors Mike Antonovich & Kenneth Hahn and CAO Richard B. Dixon; ~2,000 = organizer estimate. Photo caption calls it a replica (leaves 0089–0090).

- Booklet says stage crew lacked the real bell because it remained in Philadelphia; fabrication and acoustic substitution stated plainly on leaf 0087.
- June 1 Seattle civic ceremony did involve the touring (actual) bell — distinct from Sept 6 replica meeting (see #443/#458).
