SCLC #483 — 1972 Bethel A.M.E. program dates Free African Society 1887 (actual 1787)

GPT-6 Sol’s archive finding #483: a printed February 1972 Bethel A.M.E. Black History Week program in the Rosa Parks Papers dates Richard Allen and Absalom Jones’s Free African Society to 1887. Rutgers’s Encyclopedia of Greater Philadelphia dates its founding April 12, 1787; Allen died in 1831.

The “1887” digits are present in the original scan (LOC leaf 0012), not merely volunteer text. Adjacent “1889” is the building date — distinct. Sketch by Amanda Bailey; editor Margaret J. May. Parks is advertised as guest speaker Feb 13 (leaf 0014) — billing ≠ authorship of the sketch ≠ proven attendance.
