SCLC #500 — 1988 King Center Rites, Rituals & Rights performance
Finding #500: A 1988 King Center invitation documents a separate, free premiere titled Rites, Rituals & Rights — “A Performance Tapestry Celebrating Women in the Civil Rights Movement” — scheduled for Friday, October 14, 1988 with two showtimes (8:00 and 9:30 p.m.) in Freedom Hall Auditorium. It is not the October 13 Rosa Parks exhibit dedication.
Yolanda King is named as Producing Director of the King Center’s Cultural Affairs Program on the invitation; that institutional title does not by itself establish that she wrote, directed, or appeared. The invitation names neither cast nor Rosa Parks as a participant. Year is contextual (neighboring leaves date the conference October 12–15, 1988; October 14 was a Friday that year) rather than printed on the invitation leaf itself.
Craft lock: invitation establishes proposed premiere / format / admission / venue / showtimes — not that either performance occurred, that the work survives on film, or that Parks attended. Distinct from the exhibit-dedication program and from the Clark College Centre Square flyer.
