SCLC #506 — 1995 three Quiet Strength awards proposal
Finding #506: A 1995 anniversary prospectus proposed three differentiated “Quiet Strength” honors: (1) Rosa Parks Quiet Strength Award for women whose nonviolent action benefited community or society; (2) Quiet Strength Commended Award for youths ages 11–17; (3) Raymond Parks Support Award for men who furthered women’s equality.
The scheme envisioned local/national/international recognition, a multi-city tour alongside the 1996 Pathways to Freedom tour, and a Montgomery presentation. These are criteria and intentions in a promotional plan, not evidence of finalized rules, nominations, recipients, ceremonies, or authorization to use Raymond Parks’s name. “First Annual” does not establish a first presentation.
Craft locks: design proposal ≠ recipients/ceremonies; distinct from awards given to Parks and from the Detroit park/stage proposals in the same packet. LOC mss859430253 leaves 0018/0021/0030.
