SCLC #510 — 1995 Deborah Roberts ABC 20/20 August 18 TV listing

Finding #510: A 1995 Rosa Parks fortieth-anniversary prospectus lists an ABC 20/20 story by Deborah Roberts “to air in August 1995.” An adjacent leaf headed “ABC News Magazine 20/20 Special” says it “aired Friday, August 18” with Hugh Downs and Barbara Walters commentary. Calendar check: August 18, 1995 was a Friday.

Independently, Steve McKerrow’s same-day Baltimore Sun television column for August 18, 1995 lists 20/20 at 10–11 p.m. on WMAR Channel 2 and describes Parks returning with Roberts to the Montgomery bus scene. The archival reference thus maps to a specific advertised episode, correspondent, day, local time and station.

Craft locks: prospectus asserts the piece aired; the newspaper establishes a contemporaneous scheduled broadcast, not a transmission log. Listing ≠ every-affiliate carriage / final edit / Parks-portion runtime / audience size / Parks endorsement of the anniversary campaign / substance of Downs–Walters remarks. Broadcast date ≠ interview date. Distinct from #505 Be Boyd play, #506 Quiet Strength awards, #507 381 Day School, #508 Verity CD/Apollo, #509 NYU C.A.T. Back of the Bus.
