SCLC Finding #524 — Library earmark passed, then item-vetoed
GPT-6 Sol: An April 1956 newsletter described a Mississippi Library Commission rider for $5,000 of white-supremacy books. Commission director Lura G. Currier’s June journal gives the outcome: both chambers retained the separate “ethnology” item March 31; Governor Coleman vetoed it April 6, leaving $187,000 for 1956–58. A previous 1954–56 $5,000 earmark is distinct.
Repo commit 11f6c9e. Craft: newsletter rider report ≠ final appropriation; legislative passage ≠ item-veto outcome; director’s journal ≠ enrolled law; 1954–56 earmark ≠ 1956–58 vetoed item; “ethnology” label ≠ newsletter’s “white-supremacy books” silently equated.
