Finding 578. In eight counties Black interviewees reported warrantless home searches as common (white informants did not corroborate). Separately, in Fayette TN and DeSoto MS, interviewees agreed such searches were common; Fayette also agreed on arrests without probable cause and occasional custodial mistreatment.
