SCLC #617 School books/labs · 4+3−2=5 distinct counties
Only two counties appear on both school-resource comparability lists.
GPT-6 Sol archival finding. 1961 survey: books compared favorably in four of seventeen lower-voting Black Belt counties; laboratory equipment comparable in three.
- Books (note 22): Lee GA · Claiborne LA · Calhoun SC · McCormick SC
- Labs (note 23): Lee GA · Claiborne LA · Quitman MS
- Both: Lee + Claiborne only → 4+3−2=5 distinct, not seven
Note 21 names six different counties where new Black schools still lacked adequate library/recreational/or laboratory facilities — relative parity in one resource ≠ absolute adequacy. Quitman on both “comparable labs” and “new schools lacking some facilities” should not be silently erased.
