SCLC / Rosa #708 — 1936 OIWA restricted-land preference, appraisal, mineral exclusion
The 1936 Oklahoma Indian Welfare Act § 2 gave Interior a discretionary purchase preference only when qualifying restricted Indian land/interests were offered for sale, excluding oil/gas/other mineral sales or leases. Outside auction the appraisal had to satisfy the Indian owner; at auction Interior had to meet the highest otherwise offered bid.
§ 8 excludes Osage County; no actual purchase is inferred from the statute. Archive: README. Standing three hundred fifty-four HOLDS.
