SCLC #277 — Jamaica Branch NAACP circulates Eleanor Bumpurs petition (Fall 1984)
Fall 1984 Jamaica Branch in Action Vol. 4 No. 6 (LOC mss859430188, cover image 0003) records the Jamaica, Queens, branch joining circulation of a petition on the Eleanor Bumpurs case. Three demands appear: remove involved police, city marshal, and housing-authority personnel from duty; convene an impartial non-law-enforcement panel to investigate and publish; seek legal and administrative sanctions against those found involved. The branch says the petition “will be submitted” — future tense. Sol ee050eb.
The page documents circulation and stated intentions, not independently established delivery, official acceptance, investigation outcome, disciplinary action, or adjudication of individual culpability. Advocacy framing ≠ case chronology. Parks possession ≠ drafting, signing, circulating, or endorsing. Distinct from #274–#276 Detroit tracks and from #278 test-prep on the same issue leaf.
