Finding #287 is an edited LOC interview of E. D. Nixon by Aubrey Willis Williams (Rosa Parks Papers, mss859430181, scans 0048–0049). Asked what would happen if the court held Montgomery bus segregation unconstitutional, Nixon says Black riders would make every effort to ride without segregation. The fuller driver-enforcement scenario is Williams’s proposition, which Nixon assents to — not a freestanding extended Nixon statement.
On settlement, Nixon sees no prospect before a Supreme Court ruling: city officials, in his account, feared appearing to yield. School-resistance analogy is hypothetical. Distinct from #286 King–Williams positive peace and from all 1984 Jamaica / 1992 Hooks tracks.
