Detroit’s Wilmington Ten defense committee placed a July 4, 1976 open letter under the Wilmington Star-News masthead, then—per organizer Carolyn Moody’s July 29 letter—held a July 10 church rally where Angela Davis and Sister Evelyn Mattern spoke to an estimated 400. A press summary reports 282 sponsors alongside 282 combined prison years; that count is not independently audited. Parks was listed as an honorary chair, not one of the three appeal signatories or a verified rally speaker. Distinct from #342.
