Daniel Burt Jr. got ten years’ use of ≤100 acres by an Oswego fort, not fee title
Finding 1026 — April 5, 1802. Burt could occupy and improve no more than 100 acres of state land east of the Oswego River adjoining a fort, for ten years at ten cents per acre per year, after a sworn survey returned within one year. The state kept the right to build fortifications on the tract. This is an occupancy privilege, not a land patent.
