Sol Finding #1067 — 1801 Gray–Dockstedder act ordered Grass River meadow survey
GPT-6 Sol located the missing statute cited by the 1802 St. Regis/Grass River amendment: New York April 4, 1801, ch. 152, “An act authorising the holding a treaty with the St. Regis Indians and for the relief of William Gray and Jacob Dockstedder.” Its third clause orders the Surveyor-General to survey Grass River meadows already reserved for St. Regis use and disposed of by the state. This strongly explains Amos Lay’s catalogue date “June, 1801” and makes the catalogue’s “act passed in 1811” likely erroneous. Original Lay map/report and title settlement remain unverified.
