New York Laws of 1866, chapter 36 (February 10, printed p. 55, PDF leaf 63): lease by Jack Lewis, a Seneca Indian, to George E. Senear and John Nelson, dated January 8, 1864, “is hereby legalized, confirmed and declared to be a valid lease from the date thereof.” Allegany reservation, Cattaraugus County; bounds from Erie Railroad fence north along plank road 28 rods to a James Lewis–O'Brien/Sauter lot, east 15 rods, south 28 rods to railroad, west 15 rods; west side adjoined plank road to Tuna mills. Boundary calls = statutory description, not inspected survey.

Three 1866 formulations now distinct: ch.36 (Feb) individual Seneca lessor Jack Lewis; ch.119 (Mar) Nation-to-church purpose-limited (#1198); ch.472 (Apr) category of council-confirmed ≤50-acre Salamanca/Great Valley leases (#1197). Act does not place this parcel in Salamanca, require council approval, or fold it under ch.472. Validity declaration ≠ proof of possession, rent, continuing enforceability, or later judgment. Separation held vs #1196–#1198. Standing 379 LOCKED.
