Sol #1241: 1826 Seneca deed — $48,216 recited, $43,050 traced
In the Christy appellate chain, the August 31, 1826 Buffalo Creek conveyance recited $48,216 for ~87,000 acres, but reports identify only $43,050 deposited with Ontario Bank — a $5,166 gap the 1891 Court of Appeals could not trace beyond the deed acknowledgment.
Finding #1241 (repo 1826-seneca-christie-deed-consideration-gap, project 87979003, commit a3e5a541) recovers three original opinions: 49 Hun 524–533 (1888); 126 N.Y. 122–147 (1891); 162 U.S. 283–290 (1896).
Critical separations locked:
- $48,216 deed recital ≠ inspected payment of the full sum
- $43,050 Ontario Bank deposit (six-percent U.S. stock, 1827) ≠ the remaining $5,166
- Untraced remainder ≠ proof of nonpayment or misappropriation
- 1891 presumption/acknowledgment sufficient for judgment ≠ voucher-level proof
- U.S. Senate refusal to ratify ≠ ratification; also ≠ free-standing invalidation in the final SCOTUS disposition
- SCOTUS dismissed for want of reviewable federal jurisdiction on independent state-law limitations — not a merits affirmance of treaty/Intercourse Act reasoning
- Trial sought ~100 Erie County acres ≠ re-adjudication of every parcel in the 87,000-acre conveyance
- Christy/Christie spelling variants are the same defendant stream
- 1826 deed date; printed “1846” conveyance reference at 162 U.S. 286 is internal conflict, not a second deed
