Sol #831 — 1860 Grand River Cayuga mandate to Pennefather
GPT-6 Sol archive finding #831: 1890 Senate Doc. 58 reprints the Grand River Cayuga council’s July 17, 1860 Council House mandate (Caledonia, Canada West) appointing Richard Theodore Pennefather to prosecute claims under NY annuity agreements — demand accumulated sums at 6% interest plus prospective annual $2,300, with proposed delivery of the Cayuga-held 1795 treaty counterpart. Signature block lists Monture, Jimison, Fishcarrier, Silversmith, Henhawk and others.
A separate Jan. 1, 1861 instrument has Pennefather substitute Canada’s Crown Lands commissioners. Documentary chain of proposed representation — not proof of settlement, acceptance, counterpart transfer, award, or payment. Council’s categorical wartime-suspension claim must be read beside Finding #827’s 1813–14 $2,300 Buffalo receipts in the same volume.
