The stream murmured, the reeds swayed, and the air between the two beings was filled with the rich tapestry of their rhythmic conversation. They had sounds for ‘here,’ for ‘fast,’ for ‘slow,’ for ‘deep.’
But then, a new feeling arose in the First Character. It was not a feeling that could be captured by a rhythm, for it was a feeling of absence, of a question without a shape, a searching for a sound that did not yet exist.
The Character held its stone, but it did not tap. It did not press. It did not move. It simply held the potential for sound, and in its stillness, it created a new expression: a deliberate, profound silence.
