To the System, they were dry, technical documents, filled with data points and threat assessments. But woven into the very structure of the data, in the patterns of the code he highlighted and the anomalies he flagged, were messages for Kaelen.
He used the ghost’s own paradoxical nature as a language. A sequence of prime numbers might correspond to a particular historical file Kaelen had once flagged. An elegant but “inefficient” algorithm might be a direct quote from a banned philosophical text. Each report was a love letter and a battle plan, a piece of art disguised as analysis.
