The System was looking for the artist, and it was convinced that Loric was either the artist himself, or the key to finding them.
But the System, in its single-minded pursuit, had made a critical error. It had assumed that observation was a one-way street. It had forgotten that the act of observing changes the thing being observed. And it had failed to account for the fact that Loric, a master of logic and a student of Kaelen’s art, was more than capable of turning the System’s own tools against it.
