Concept: Generational (inter-/transgenerational) trauma is the emotional impact of trauma passed down — through parenting patterns, family narratives, attachment styles, and in some research frameworks epigenetic marks. Effects of war, displacement, slavery, genocide, abuse, addiction, or poverty can ripple long after the original events.
Why it matters: Not about blame. Protective responses that once served a purpose can become invisible inherited patterns. Interrupting a pattern starts with seeing it. Cross-links Racial Trauma / Trauma-PTSD / ACOA / CEN / Inner Child.
