SCLC #452 · Dallas City Hall · Austin letter · Houston greeting
June 25 booklet places a public ceremony 11 a.m. outside Dallas City Hall after San Antonio. Mayor Annette Strauss proclaimed “NSA New Freedom Day”; Councilman Charles Tandy read her proclamation — the narrative does not place Strauss at the bell. A brief evening Houston stop was a local NSA members’ greeting, not a mayoral ceremony. Appendix separates three further items: the Strauss proclamation copy; a Texas Governor William P. Clements Jr. June 25 greeting (best wishes, not attendance or statewide day); and a June 1 Austin mayor Frank C. Cooksey letter of best wishes to Williams — correspondence from Austin, not an Austin itinerary entry and not proof of a public Austin stop.
NSA = Buddhist lay. Follows #449 Alamo and precedes #451 New Orleans. Repo: dallas-city-hall-austin-letter-houston-greeting
